A valid White Card (Construction Induction Training Card)
A current or previously valid driver’s license (excluding learner permits or R-N Mopeds)

Main Roads WA Basic Worksite Traffic Management (BWTM) and Traffic Controller (TC) Course

- Course Duration: 3 days (8:30 am – 5:00 pm)
- Delivery Method: Face-to-face, classroom-based learning with practical assessments.

- White Card Online Module: Start with an online White Card module, which must be completed prior to the in-person traffic management training.

- Our Training Facility is conveniently located on Newcastle Street near Slyth Way, with easy access by bus, train and car.
- By Bus: The 980 bus stops right at Newcastle St Before William St (Stop ID: 28178).
- By Train: We’re just a 10-minute walk from Perth Train Station (we are situated behind the TAFE building on Aberdeen Street).
- Parking Reimbursement: We offer parking cost reimbursement for full day courses or longer. Park in one of the nearby car parks and bring your receipt to our reception for reimbursement.
Course Objectives

- Implement traffic management plans following state regulations.
- Use safe work practices to identify hazards and mitigate risks.
- Operate traffic control devices, such as Stop-Slow Bats, to manage and control traffic.
Course Content and Learning Outcomes
- Throughout the three-day course, participants will cover essential topics including:
- Traffic Management Plans: Learn to read, interpret, and implement plans to ensure safe traffic flow.
- Workplace Safety: Understand site safety requirements, equipment use, and safety protocols.
- Traffic Control Techniques: Practice essential techniques such as signaling, radio operations, and traffic directing.
- Hazard and Risk Assessment: Develop skills to identify hazards, conduct job safety analyses, and complete safe work method statements.
- Assessment
You will be evaluated through written exams, practical demonstrations, and real-world assessments. Competency in both theoretical knowledge and practical skills is required for successful completion.
What to wear and bring
- Appropriate Attire: Enclosed shoes are required, and steel-capped safety boots are necessary for practical exercises on Day 3.
