Which traffic control course do I need?
All options lead to the same Main Roads WA accreditation. The right one depends on whether you already hold a White Card, and whether you are starting fresh, renewing or moving to WA from interstate.
Traffic management training delivered by Workforce Training Group, RTO 46093. Nationally Recognised Training in RIICOM201E Communicate in the workplace, RIIWHS205E Control traffic with stop-slow bat, RIIWHS206 Control traffic with portable traffic control devices and temporary traffic signs, RIIWHS302E Implement traffic management plan and RIIWHS303 Position, set up and program portable traffic control devices. Main Roads WA accreditation in Basic Worksite Traffic Management and Traffic Control issued on assessment of competency. CTF subsidy subject to eligibility.

Traffic control work in WA needs Main Roads WA accreditation, not just a certificate. This course trains you to set up and monitor traffic management signs and devices, direct traffic safely with a stop/slow bat, and work to Main Roads WA and Australian Standard requirements.
Training runs at our Northbridge centre with practical sessions at an approved live work zone, so you are assessed doing the real job rather than just the theory. On successful completion you receive a Statement of Attainment for each unit and a Main Roads WA Certificate of Accreditation and wallet card.

- Positioning, setting up and monitoring signs and portable traffic control devices

Is this the same as a traffic management course?
Yes. Traffic control course, traffic management course and TC ticket are common names for the same Main Roads WA accreditation in Basic Worksite Traffic Management and Traffic Control. This is the current WA-approved program.
How long does the course take?
3.5 days, including practical training and assessment at an approved live work zone. The duration moved from 3 days to 3.5 days in February 2026.
Do I need a White Card first?
Yes for the standard course. If you do not hold one, choose the combo option and complete your White Card and your Main Roads WA accreditation in the one program.
I am accredited interstate. Do I have to redo the full course?
No. The 1 day interstate bridging course converts eligible interstate accreditation to Main Roads WA accreditation. Check the eligibility list and enquire.
What do I need to bring?
A valid full driver's licence, your White Card, steel toe cap boots and weather-appropriate clothing for the practical days. Sunscreen and ponchos are provided.
How long is the accreditation valid?
Your Main Roads WA Certificate of Accreditation is valid for 3 years. Book the re-accreditation course before it expires.
