This course is for individuals who currently hold Main Roads WA accreditation in Basic Worksite Traffic Management (BWTM) and Traffic Control (TC) and need to renew their accreditation.

In line with Main Roads WA requirements, traffic management accreditations must be renewed every three years. This re-accreditation course updates your knowledge of the latest industry practices, legislation, and changes to the Traffic Management for Works on Roads Code of Practice and relevant Australian Standards.

Training includes a combination of theory review and practical assessment. Upon successful completion, your Main Roads WA accreditation card will be reissued on the day.

  • Delivery Mode: Face-to-face classroom training and practical assessment
  • Location: Northbridge Training Centre and an approved off-site dedicated work zone/live road (transport between the training centre and work zone is provided free of charge)
  • Duration: 1 day
  • Assessment Method: Theory questions and simulated practical demonstration
  • Course Fee: $320
  • What to Bring:
    • Valid photo ID
    • Current or recently expired BWTM/TC card
    • Drivers licence
    • Steel toe capped boots and high visibility clothing are required for day 3 (high vis vests can be provided)
    • Weather-appropriate attire, depending on the forecast for the day (e.g. long sleeves, hats, or rain jackets)
    • Water bottle

(Sunscreen and plastic ponchos are provided for outdoor practical assessment as needed).

  • Lunch is provided for all participants. Please advise of any dietary requirements when enrolling.

Upon successful completion, participants will receive:

  • A Main Roads WA Certificate for Basic Worksite Traffic Management (BWTM) and Traffic Control (TC)
  • A Main Roads WA Accreditation Card for Basic Worksite Traffic Management (BWTM) and Traffic Control (TC)

Main Roads WA cards are printed and issued on day 3, provided the participant is deemed competent and all enrolment and ID verification requirements are met.

To enrol in the Traffic Management Refresher Course, participants must:

  • Provide valid photo ID
  • Hold a current or recently expired (within 3 months) Main Roads WA Traffic Management Accreditation Card for BWTM and TC
  • Hold a valid Australian or international driver’s licence
  • Provide Statements of Attainment or USI transcript confirming successful completion of the following units (or equivalent):
    • RIIWHS302E – Implement Traffic Management Plan
    • RIIWHS205E – Control Traffic with Stop-Slow Bat
    • RIICOM201E – Communicate in the Workplace

To meet Main Roads WA refresher requirements, participants must also demonstrate recent, relevant worksite experience by providing:

  • Details of at least three worksites where traffic management duties were performed
  • Supervisor contact details for each worksite (must be verifiable)
  • A completed and signed SWMS, JSA, or similar hazard assessment used on-site

Some students may also be required to complete a formal LLND (Language, Literacy, Numeracy and Digital) assessment as part of the enrolment process.

For the Traffic Management Reaccreditation course, a full refund is available if you provide at least 2 working days’ written notice prior to the course start date.

No refunds can be issued for cancellations made with less than 2 working days’ notice, or for non-attendance.

Please note: Refunds processed via Stripe will be minus a small non-refundable processing fee charged by the payment provider.

Who is this course for?

This course is for individuals who currently hold, or have recently held, Main Roads WA accreditation in Basic Worksite Traffic Management (BWTM) and Traffic Control (TC) and need to renew their accreditation before it expires.

Can I still enrol if my accreditation has expired?

Yes – in some cases.
If your accreditation has expired within the last 3 months, you may still be eligible for the reaccreditation course. If it’s been more than 3 months, you may be required to complete the full 3-day BWTM & TC course. Please contact us before enrolling so we can confirm your eligibility.

What certification will I receive?

Upon successful completion, you will receive:

  • A Main Roads WA Certificate of Accreditation for BWTM and TC
  • A Main Roads WA Accreditation Card for BWTM and TC

No new Statement of Attainment is issued, as eligible participants already hold the relevant units of competency.

Is this course nationally recognised?

This course is for reaccreditation purposes only; no additional nationally recognised Statements of Attainment are issued.

How long is the course?

This is a 1-day refresher course that includes theory revision and practical assessment.

Where is the course held?

Training is delivered at an approved off-site work zone (generally in Malaga however locations may vary) . Free transport between our Northbridge training room and the worksite locations are provided.

What do I need to bring?

  • Valid White (or Blue) Card
  • Your current or recently expired Main Roads WA accreditation card
  • A valid Australian or international driver’s licence
  • Steel-capped boots and high-vis clothing
  • Weather-appropriate attire (e.g. rain jacket, hat, long sleeves)
  • Water bottle

We supply sunscreen and ponchos if required. Lunch is provided-please let us know if you have any dietary needs.

Do I need a Unique Student Identifier (USI)?

Yes. A valid USI is required for your record with Workforce Training Group, even if you’re not being issued a Statement of Attainment. We can assist you in obtaining one if needed.

Is there an English language requirement?

Yes. You must be able to speak and understand English to participate fully in the course and complete the assessments.

When will I receive my updated card?

If you are deemed competent and all enrolment and ID requirements are met, your Main Roads WA accreditation card will be issued on the same day.
