Who needs an RSA certificate?

Anyone who serves or supplies alcohol in licensed venues in Western Australia must hold a valid RSA certificate. This includes bartenders, waitstaff, and bottle shop attendants.

Is this course nationally recognised?

Yes. You will complete the accredited unit SITHFAB021 – Provide Responsible Service of Alcohol, which is nationally recognised and accepted in WA. Some states have different requirements, so please check with your local liquor authority if working outside WA.

What is a USI and why do I need one?

A USI (Unique Student Identifier) is a government-issued reference number required for anyone undertaking nationally recognised training in Australia. It allows you to access your training records and transcripts online and ensures your accredited training is recorded in the national system.

If you’re completing any accredited course (such as RSA, White Card, or Traffic Management), you must provide a valid USI before your certificate can be issued.

You can create one for free at www.usi.gov.au. If you’re not sure how, we’re happy to help during the enrolment process.

How long does the course take?

The course runs for approximately 4 hours and is delivered face-to-face in a classroom setting.

Is there any pre-reading or preparation required?

Yes. You will be provided with reading material before the course. It’s important to review this in advance so you’re ready to participate in group discussions and complete your assessment.

What do I need to bring on the day?

Please bring valid photo ID (e.g. passport, driver’s licence, or proof of age card). All other materials will be provided.

What will the assessment involve?

You’ll complete a written assessment that includes short-answer questions and discussion-based activities. Trainers will provide support throughout the session.

When will I receive my certificate?

You will receive a Statement of Attainment for SITHFAB021 – Provide Responsible Service of Alcohol. Certificates are generally issued promptly following successful course completion and verification of enrolment details.

Can under 18s do this course?

Yes. While you must be at least 18 to serve alcohol, students under 18 may enrol for training purposes. If you’re under 18, please let us know-our trainers are happy to provide additional support if needed.

What if I don’t speak English well?

You must be able to speak and understand English to take part in training and complete the assessment. If you’re unsure, you can request a quick phone call with one of our trainers to check your speaking skills before enrolling.
