This qualification may lead to the following career opportunities. Please note: completion of training does not guarantee employment.
Already have skills and experience? You may be eligible for Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) or Credit Transfer to reduce your study time.
Learn about RPLYou complete the theory online at your own pace — most people spend somewhere between 2 and 5.5 hours on it — and then attend a short 30-minute face-to-face assessment at our Northbridge or Malaga training centre. You'll have 4 weeks to work through the online part, and if you need more time you can extend free of charge — just get in touch. Book your assessment whenever you're ready.
Once you enrol, you'll get access to an online learning module you can complete on any device with internet access. When you've worked through the theory, you book a time to come in for a 30-minute assessment, which includes short-answer questions and a practical demonstration. Your White Card is printed and issued on the same day, once you've successfully completed the assessment.
CTF (Construction Training Fund) subsidies may apply for eligible WA construction workers and can reduce your course fee. Contact us before enrolling and we'll help you check your eligibility, or you can read more at ctf.wa.gov.au/funding. We also offer payment plans if you'd like to spread the cost.
Yes — if you're on a student visa (subclass 500), you can enrol in our White Card (CPCWHS1001), First Aid (HLTAID011 / HLTAID009), and Responsible Service of Alcohol (SITHFAB021) courses. These are approved short courses that overseas students can complete alongside their main studies, without the training provider needing CRICOS registration. Before enrolling, please check that your visa conditions allow you to undertake an additional short course. You can confirm this with the Department of Home Affairs.
We provide an RPL pathway for holders of a current Blue Card — see our Blue Card to White Card Upgrade course for more information. If you're new to construction, the blended course is the quickest way to get your White Card.
Just yourself and a valid photo ID (such as a driver's licence, passport or proof of age card) — we'll take care of the rest. All training resources and personal protective equipment (PPE) are provided, so there's nothing you need to buy or bring along. It also helps to have finished the online module before you arrive.
You can enrol from age 14. Anyone under 18 will need consent from a parent or guardian. The White Card is designed for people entering construction work, so it suits anyone getting ready to start on site.
Our courses do need a working level of English, since you'll need to read the online material, understand safety instructions and answer questions and complete the assessment. To make sure the course is the right fit and that you'll be well supported, we offer a quick language, literacy and numeracy (LLN) check over the phone before you start. If the check shows you'd benefit from extra support, we'll go through the options with you so you can complete the course with confidence.
Yes. A USI (Unique Student Identifier) is a free reference number that every student undertaking nationally recognised training in Australia must have. It's a lifetime record of your training, so all your qualifications and Statements of Attainment are stored in one place. You'll need one before we can issue your certificate — you can create your own for free at usi.gov.au.
Yes. On successful completion you'll receive a nationally recognised Statement of Attainment for CPCWHS1001 and a wallet card accredited by WorkSafe WA. These are recognised by employers and regulators right across Australia, not just in WA.
Once you've completed all the assessment requirements and we've verified your USI, we'll issue your Statement of Attainment — usually the same day as your assessment. It's sent to you by email, so keep an eye on your inbox (including your junk folder). Your physical WorkSafe WA White Card is printed and issued on the day too, once you've successfully passed.
No — your WorkSafe WA White Card doesn't expire. But if you leave the construction industry for two or more years in a row, it's no longer valid and you'll need to complete the training again before returning to site.
We collect and store your personal information only for the purposes of delivering your training, issuing your certificate, and meeting our legal obligations as a Registered Training Organisation. We're required to report certain information to government bodies — including your USI and training results — and we handle your information in line with our Privacy Policy. You can read the full policy on our website, and you're welcome to contact us with any questions about your information.
We take all concerns seriously and aim to resolve them fairly. If you're unhappy with any part of your experience, or you'd like to appeal an assessment decision, you can let us know and we'll follow our Complaints and Appeals process. The full process — including how to submit and what to expect — is set out in our Complaints and Appeals Policy on our website. You won't be disadvantaged for raising a concern.
Your course fee covers up to 3 assessment attempts at no extra charge. If you haven't achieved a satisfactory result after 3 attempts, you're welcome to re-enrol in the course to try again — the standard course fee applies to the new enrolment.
