Already have skills and experience? You may be eligible for Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) or Credit Transfer to reduce your study time.
Learn about RPLIt's delivered as blended learning — you complete some e-learning online beforehand, then attend 2 days of face-to-face training at our Northbridge Training Centre. Across the bundle you complete three nationally accredited units: barista (espresso coffee), RSA, and food safety.
Three nationally accredited units: SITHFAB025 Prepare and serve espresso coffee (barista), SITHFAB021 Provide responsible service of alcohol (RSA), and SITXFSA005 Use hygienic practices for food safety. You'll receive a nationally recognised Statement of Attainment for each unit you complete. All training materials and coffee equipment are supplied. The food safety unit is a prerequisite for the barista unit, so it's completed first — and it's built into the bundle.
No prior experience is needed — the bundle is designed for people starting out in hospitality. You'll just need a valid photo ID, conversational English, and a device with internet access to complete the online modules beforehand.
There aren't any government subsidies for this course at the moment, so the fee shown is the full cost — with no hidden extras. We do offer payment plans, so just contact us if you'd like to spread the cost over instalments.
Our courses are delivered on a non-CRICOS basis, which means they're intended as short courses rather than a main program of study. If you're on a student visa, you're welcome to enrol as long as your visa conditions allow you to undertake an additional short course. We'd recommend confirming this with the Department of Home Affairs before you enrol. Please note the RSA unit (SITHFAB021) is one of our approved short courses for student visa holders.
Yes. If you already have relevant skills and experience, you may be eligible for Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) or Credit Transfer, which can reduce your study time. Contact us and we'll talk through whether it's an option for you and what evidence you'd need to provide.
Just yourself and a valid photo ID. All training materials and coffee equipment are supplied. Closed-in shoes are required for the barista practical, and it helps to have completed the online modules before you arrive.
You can enrol from age 14. To serve alcohol in a licensed venue in Western Australia you must be at least 18. Students under 18 will need consent from a parent or guardian.
Our courses do need a working level of English, since you'll need to take part in training and complete the online modules. To make sure the course is the right fit and that you'll be well supported, we offer a quick language, literacy and numeracy (LLN) check over the phone before you start. If the check shows you'd benefit from extra support, we'll go through the options with you so you can complete the course with confidence.
Yes. A USI (Unique Student Identifier) is a free reference number that every student undertaking nationally recognised training in Australia must have. It's a lifetime record of your training, so all your qualifications and Statements of Attainment are stored in one place. You'll need one before we can issue your certificate — you can create your own for free at usi.gov.au.
Yes — this is a fully nationally accredited bundle. You'll receive a nationally recognised Statement of Attainment for each of the three units — SITHFAB025 (barista), SITHFAB021 (RSA), and SITXFSA005 (food safety) — recognised by employers and regulators across Australia.
Once you've completed the e-learning and all assessment requirements and we've verified your USI, we'll issue your Statements of Attainment — usually within a few days, by email. Keep an eye on your inbox (including your junk folder).
Your nationally recognised RSA Statement of Attainment doesn't expire. Some venues or licensing requirements may prefer you to have completed it more recently, so it's worth checking what your employer or venue asks for.
Yes. If you don't need the RSA, we also offer Barista Essentials separately, which includes the food safety unit (SITXFSA005) — that unit is a prerequisite for the barista training. Contact us and we'll help you pick the right option.
We collect and store your personal information only for the purposes of delivering your training, issuing your certificate, and meeting our legal obligations as a Registered Training Organisation. We're required to report certain information to government bodies — including your USI and training results — and we handle your information in line with our Privacy Policy. You can read the full policy on our website, and you're welcome to contact us with any questions about your information.
We take all concerns seriously and aim to resolve them fairly. If you're unhappy with any part of your experience, or you'd like to appeal an assessment decision, you can let us know and we'll follow our Complaints and Appeals process. The full process — including how to submit and what to expect — is set out in our Complaints and Appeals Policy on our website. You won't be disadvantaged for raising a concern.
Your course fee covers up to 3 assessment attempts at no extra charge. If you haven't achieved a satisfactory result after 3 attempts, you're welcome to re-enrol in the course to try again — the standard course fee applies to the new enrolment.
