Already have skills and experience? You may be eligible for Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) or Credit Transfer to reduce your study time.
Learn about RPLIt's delivered as blended learning: around 3 hours of self-paced online eLearning, followed by a 5-hour hands-on practical session at our Northbridge Training Centre. You complete the online module and knowledge assessment first, then come in for the practical.
You'll get hands-on training in a café-style environment — operating the espresso machine, preparing a full range of café drinks, and applying essential food safety practices. All coffee equipment and materials are supplied, so you learn on real gear.
No prior experience is needed. You'll just need a valid photo ID, basic English, a device with internet access for the online module, and closed-in shoes for the practical session.
There aren't any government subsidies for this course at the moment, so the fee shown is the full cost — with no hidden extras. We do offer payment plans, so just contact us if you'd like to spread the cost over instalments.
Our courses are delivered on a non-CRICOS basis, which means they're intended as short courses rather than a main program of study. If you're on a student visa, you're welcome to enrol as long as your visa conditions allow you to undertake an additional short course. We'd recommend confirming this with the Department of Home Affairs before you enrol.
Yes. If you already have relevant skills and experience, you may be eligible for Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) or Credit Transfer, which can reduce your study time. Contact us and we'll talk through whether it's an option for you and what evidence you'd need to provide.
A valid photo ID and closed-in shoes (required for the practical). All coffee equipment and materials are supplied. It helps to have finished the online module and knowledge assessment before you come in.
You can enrol from age 14. Students under 18 will need consent from a parent or guardian.
Our courses do need a working level of English, since you'll need to follow instructions and complete the online module and complete the assessment. To make sure the course is the right fit and that you'll be well supported, we offer a quick language, literacy and numeracy (LLN) check over the phone before you start. If the check shows you'd benefit from extra support, we'll go through the options with you so you can complete the course with confidence.
Yes. A USI (Unique Student Identifier) is a free reference number that every student undertaking nationally recognised training in Australia must have. It's a lifetime record of your training, so all your qualifications and Statements of Attainment are stored in one place. You'll need one before we can issue your certificate — you can create your own for free at usi.gov.au.
Yes. On successful completion you'll receive a nationally recognised Statement of Attainment for the units covered, recognised by employers right across Australia.
Once you've completed both the online and practical assessments and we've verified your USI, we'll issue your Statement of Attainment — usually within a few days, by email. Keep an eye on your inbox (including your junk folder).
Your Statement of Attainment doesn't expire. Some employers may ask you to refresh your food safety knowledge from time to time, so it's worth checking what your workplace requires.
We collect and store your personal information only for the purposes of delivering your training, issuing your certificate, and meeting our legal obligations as a Registered Training Organisation. We're required to report certain information to government bodies — including your USI and training results — and we handle your information in line with our Privacy Policy. You can read the full policy on our website, and you're welcome to contact us with any questions about your information.
We take all concerns seriously and aim to resolve them fairly. If you're unhappy with any part of your experience, or you'd like to appeal an assessment decision, you can let us know and we'll follow our Complaints and Appeals process. The full process — including how to submit and what to expect — is set out in our Complaints and Appeals Policy on our website. You won't be disadvantaged for raising a concern.
Your course fee covers up to 3 assessment attempts at no extra charge. If you haven't achieved a satisfactory result after 3 attempts, you're welcome to re-enrol in the course to try again — the standard course fee applies to the new enrolment.
